About Us

Universal Finishing Systems was founded in 1979 by Derek Whittle.

The company was set up to design, manufacture and supply industrial coating equipment for profiled timber, steel or plastic sections.

Universal became Europe’s first manufacturer of the vacuum coating system in 1980 and has subsequently enjoyed tremendous success with the application of this coating method in many industries.

This success led to the company’s expansion during the 1980s and enabled it to develop several other complementary machines, many of which are used in conjunction with vacuum coaters. E.g. Automatic Spraying Machines, Profile Sanding Machines, UV Curing Systems, Infra-Red Drying Systems.

Today, the company is still at the forefront of vacuum coating technology and its latest systems are the most user friendly machines available on the market.

At our works in North Wales (click here for location map), we have a wide selection of demonstration machines
available for us to carry out tests and trials for our prospective customers.

The company is managed today by Kevin Whittle – Managing Director and Roger Kirby – Technical Director. They are ably supported by a dedicated, experienced team which includes Brian Mainstone, Anita Green and Sylvia Meagan.
